Other Outdoor Activities
This
is an exciting alternative for exploring the
Kekova-Simena region. You
can paddle right over ancient ruins, getting a super view of them, at your
own pace.
Since the area is off-limits to swimmers and divers, kayaking gives you the closest view of the underwater foundations, walls and mosaics dating back 2,000 years. Tours often disembark at the village of Kaleköy, inaccessible by road and topped with a castle of the Knights of Rhodes that gives an excellent panoramic view of the area.

Canoeing
on the Xanthos River
Enjoy
a fun day river canoeing on the Xanthos River. Experienced river
guides take on a journey across ancient Lycian lands of lush and tranquil
nature with a break for a BBQ lunch. The ride is downstream, so it's
not hard going. The journey ends at Patara beach with time for a swim.

Trekking in the mountains behind Kaş is some of the most beautiful scenery in the Taurus range. Below the tree line and winter snow are the yayla (highland plateaus).
Falling away from them; canyons, gorges and passes, down which in spring the melting snow rushes. Many of these gorges were important trade routes, some still in use, some completely forgotten, though all at one time jealousy guarded. The scenery is dramatic: extensive pine and cedar forest, outcrops of juniper and plane and varied maquis are topped by the impressive Ak (White) Mountains; often snowcapped unit July. Until recently the tracks between villages were for donkeys and pack animals and these tracks can still now be followed, describing meandering and varied terrain instead of the direct vehicle roads which replaced them.
